Bethel Summer Kitchen Staff Information & Application
Thank
you for your interest in serving in the food service ministry at Camp
Bethel! In food service, our ministry takes many forms. We meet our
campers’ and staff’s physical needs by providing delicious meals, we
provide the opportunity for table fellowship at mealtimes, we
demonstrate Christ-like kindness and hospitality, and we keep campers
safe from illness by following safe food handling practices. Kitchen
work can be fast-paced, demanding, and tiring. It can also be very
rewarding as you gain new skills, make new friends, and witness
the hundreds of campers whose lives are touched by Christ through Camp
Bethel each summer.
General
Information
1)
Camp Bethel is the outdoor ministry of the Virlina District
Church of the Brethren. Camp Bethel programs are open to everyone
regardless of race, age, color, national origin, sex, or disability.
2)
As our housing is entirely occupied by summer campers and resident
counseling staff,
we regret that
on-site housing is not available
for summer kitchen staff.
3)
No on-site use of tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, or profanity
is permitted.
4)
Because our summer program serves children, we are required to
perform a comprehensive criminal background check on all staff. This
check requires the use of your full legal name, your date of birth,
your legal address, and your Social Security number. All background
information is held strictly confidential by the Camp Director. If
you prefer not to divulge any of the requested information, we regret
we will not be able to consider your application.
5)
Applicants must be 16 years of age or older by June 3, 2013.
Applicants under the age of 18 must provide a signed consent from a
parent or legal guardian upon being hired.

prior to summer camp (Monday, June 3 through Saturday, June 15).
During that time staff will be scheduled according to meal
requirements and staff availability. Work hours during training may
differ from regular work shifts.
